We live in an era where fast foods get to be the order of the day. From quick breakfasts to crunchy lunches and tasty dinners, we chip junks into our body system every day in day out.
For a fact, we know that junks are in a way not good for our health, but we eat them anyway, this is naturally because junk foods can be a treat to the taste buds. But as a matter of fact, junk foods have no or negligible nutritional value. Most of these fast foods including candy, bakery products, burger and sausages, salty and oily snacks or soft drinks all have high calorie content, salts and fats. Consumption of these junk foods can lead to lot of health problems.

1. According to neuroscientist, Dr Amy Reicheit of RMIT University, junk food can inflame your brain. Junk food is highly refined and contains high level of sugar and fats more than natural food. In the same way as eating a food you are allergic to can inflame your mouth, junks can cause a similar reaction in the brain. It is called the neuroinflammation

2. It impairs Digestion
You know that vague feeling of discomfort and pain in the upper abdomen and chest, including a feeling of fullness and bloating, accompanied by belching and nausea,i can go on and on, those who are addicted to fatty junk are bound to have digestive problems as such. Also consistent junk consumption can result in gastroesphageal reflux disease (GERD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). That's because junk food is deep fried. So, oil from the junk food gets deposited in the stomach causing acidity, also because they lack fibres which is important for proper digestion.

3. It can cause kidney disease
The reason why you can never say no to fries and chips is because they contain high amounts of finely processed salt which increases salivation and secretion of enzymes that enhances your cravings. High amounts of bad fats and sodium from salt increases blood pressure and affects Kidney function. As researched even if many patients with damaged kidney function don't feel ill, they're at high risk for other health problems, said Carmine Zoccali, president of the European Renal Association -- European Dialysis and Transplant Association.

4. It can cause type 2 diabetes.

Okay another of the severe effects of junks include type 2 diabetes, a chronic condition that affects the way the body processes blood sugar (glucose).
With type 2 diabetes, the body either doesn't produce enough insulin, or it resists insulin. When you eat a healthy diet, your body gets a steady supply of glucose which helps to maintain insulin sensitivity. But when you consume only junk foods, the excessive stress exerted on your metabolism can affect the ability of your body to use insulin property. With disturbing symptoms like fatigue, frequent urination, blurred vision, poor wound healing, or weight loss

5. It can damage your liver.
This is no exaggeration, the liver's main job is to filter the blood coming from the digestive tract, before passing it to the rest of the body. The liver also detoxifies chemicals and metabolizes drugs. As it does so, the liver secretes bile that ends up back in the intestines.
Too much refined sugar and high-fructose corn syrup causes a fatty buildup that can lead to liver disease. Some studies show that sugar can be as damaging to the liver as alcohol, even if you're not overweight.         High levels of trans fats (man-made fat in some packaged foods and baked goods.) found in a number of junk food can cause deposition of fats in the liver which can cause fat dysfunction. All these risks for ingesting Junks, why not just stop eating junks or realistically reduce your fast food intake significantly?

6. Increased Obesity

One of the most common side effect is increased obesity. Infact, statistics says over 70 million adults in U.S. are obese (35 million men and 35 million women). 99 million are overweight (45 million women and 54 million men). NHANES 2016 statistics showed that about 39.6% of American adults were obese. Not to bore you with these figures, but it all says obesity is a major issue tagged with junk consumption. Yeah, it's true there other several factors responsible for Obesity but the consumption of loads of sugar, calories, and fats contribute to weight gain. Obesity can cause many medical issues like diabetes, joint pain and heart disease.

Reasons why we should stop eating junks goes on and on and on. Even if these foods are of great taste to our buds, in truth, they're not worth the risk we take to our health everytime we eat them.
